''Once the temperature drops below freezing, our cars head to storage for the winter. To pass time in the cold months, some play hockey, others go skiing, but some do ice racing. We followed our friends JP and Gab (Gab Eurosport) in a few of their events this year.
Jean-Philippe Gosselin has been taking part in the ice racing events around Quebec for five years now. It’s his second year using a 2001 Volkswagen Golf GTI running a 2.0TFSI engine from a 2008 Passat with a custom MAFless Stage 2 tune by Unitronic Chipped. A lot of work has been put into his race car and it paid off in the end with his strong lead in the standings.
Gabriel Laroche has finally put together his own ice racer this year to participate in the events. In previous years, he would be helping a hand for his friends at the races, but this year he took the leap and built his own car. His 2004 Golf R32 with a 2.0TFSI engine from a 2007 Passat with a GT3071 Turbo is nothing short from the ideal racing machine for these competitions. Equipped with RS4 injectors and a Unitronic big turbo flash, he took the lead with JP in the practice races and left his opponents trailing behind.
For next year, both guys will be giving their VW Golfs a facelift. We will be there once again to track their progress. Make sure to watch the video clip and share it with your friends.
